April seems to always amaze us in the turf grass industry and 2023 was no different. Cold, wet, snowy months are hopefully behind us and we all can start enjoying our beautiful golf course again.
Words still can't express how pleased we are with the new traps. Yes, there are still some sod seems to grow in, there are still some additional seeding and fertilizing to be applied but WOW, 90 days in a perfect fall has made quite the visual and playable conditions even better. Due to timing of all construction, there are still some projects that will be on-going as we move closer to the summer.
- Cart path repairs to #4, #10 green and #12
- Lake bank restoration to #17 green and #18 green left side
- Landscaping of Bocce Ball courts
- Installation of steps to access the putting green
As they always say, April showers bring May flowers. We can all agree having beautiful color in landscape beds are a plus, but May also provides us ample time to start prep work on all playing surfaces. Cultural practices are instrumental in our plants health by relieving compacted soils, allowing air and water movement within our soils profile as we look to start growing root depth for our summer time heat and humidity.
- Greens dry jet was completed on May 3rd.
- Tee surface coring aerification will be on-going. As of today we have 11 holes left.
- Fairway solid tine aerification will begin May 15th with a goal of finishing by the 24th.
