June is one of our favorite months as a department but this year has been very trying with all of the rain accumulation. We started the month off with quite a bit of rain, Harrell's applied fertilizer to all turf so we can have a jump start on our root growth and our famous #6 turtle bathed in the beautiful weather (at least to him). Unfortunately, heavy storms seem to pop up over Eagle Brook on a daily basis as the month ends.
As we say goodbye to our rainy June, we set our sights on July and August to bring a whole new mindset to our daily operations. With the previous rain amounts, saturated soils and high humidity, you will see key tasks being performed to help maintain conditions for the next couple of months.
Some of our key tasks in July are as follows:
* Our team will be venting greens with small solid tine aerification practice throughout the month. This process will help increase oxygen levels in our soils while allowing the undesirable gases to be release providing a healthier plant.
* Sprayers will be busy as our operators will work around all play if needed.
* Watering Practices will be on-going as weather and turf conditions dictate.
We look forward to all the great events at the club this month. Please remember hydration is the key to us all during the next couple of months.
Sincerely,
Craig, Turf Team
