Heavy Rains and how if effects our turf!!!

After a late season snow event and 72 hours of straight rain our fairways have started to show numerous signs of "Grass Blisters". First and foremost, these are very common after saturated soils in the region. The crew spent half the morning slicing these blisters to ensure that the turf is back to a level playing surface for the weekend.  What is the main cause of these blisters? These phenomenons shows the relationship between water, surface tension (rooting levels) and gases that are in our soils and how each element reacts to the other.

Our spring aerification process has slightly changed. The new dates are:
Monday, May 6th - Deep tinning on greens
Monday, May 13th - Solid tinning on fairways

Both of these cultural practice will have little effect on the overall recovery / restrictions. NO DIRT, NO MESS!!!!!!

We look forward to seeing all of the members out this weekend enjoying some SUN.

Sincerely,

Craig, Turf Team
