Golf Etiquette

Care of Course

After careful consideration of member concerns submitted to the golf committee, we have instituted a code of conduct for members, guests and families to protect both the golf course and those who are on it. Effective immediately, the following is a list of positive, pro-active regulations developed to heighten your enjoyment of the course at Eagle Brook Country Club.

CARTS
  • Responsibilities for cart operation are not only important for course maintenance but also for member safety. ONLY licensed drivers are eligible to operate a golf cart at any time. Juniors, whether members, guests of family are NOT permitted to operate carts under ANY circumstances. This cannot be emphasized too strenuously.
  • Cart distances from greens and bunkers will be strictly enforced. You must maintain a minimum of fifty (50) yards distance from all greens and greenside bunkers at all times.
  • Cart directional signs should be obeyed as well as daily cart rules.
    • “90 degree rule today”- Means that conditions are such that cart traffic on fairways is undesirable. Carts should avoid any wet areas and remain in the rough until you reach a right angle to the location of your ball. You may then cross over the fairway to your ball and come back the same way to the rough after you play the shot.
    • “Rough only today”- Means that the course is too wet for fairway cart traffic. All other wet areas are to also be avoided. No crossovers are allowed when the red sign is out.
    • “No carts today”- Means that the course is too wet to allow any carts on the course.
    • “Scatter carts today”- Means that you may drive your cart in the rough or fairway anywhere except near tee boxes, hazards, out of bounds, and 50 yards away from the greens.
  • Carts should always be on the cart paths near all tee boxes and greens. Please do not ‘cut across’ areas adjacent to tee boxes or the side or back of greens.
  • Prevent unnecessary turf wear adjacent to the cart paths at ALL times. Park on the right side of paths to allow others to maneuver around you if necessary.
  • At no time are carts to be driven on to private property, which is defined by the white out-of-bounds stakes.
RIDERS -- Only two riders on a cart at any time. Caddies/ juniors are NOT permitted to ride on the back of carts.

DIVOTS -- Please be diligent in replacing divots in fairways and rough as it is imperative in keeping your golf club in great shape. Sand/ seed bottles are also available on every cart and it is intended for use in fairways only. Please do not use them in the rough or on the tee.

FLOWER BEDS/ NEWLY PLANTED TREES -- In conjunction with local rules, please do not attempt to play out of any course flower beds or from under newly planted trees.

CHECK-IN -- Please check in at the Golf Shop before your round. The new staff members in the golf shop would love to meet you and your guests.

COURTESY
  • Ball marks on greens. Repair yours and one other. Something that takes ten seconds saves two weeks of healing on a green. Again, it is up to you the membership to urge your playing partners to ALWAYS attempt to repair a ball mark on each and every green. This cannot be neglected. Complimentary ball mark repair tools are available in the golf shop.
  • Flag replacement. Replace pin flag carefully as to not damage edge of cup. ‘Fluff’ flag if it has become wrapped around pin so that the following group may see wind direction and speed.
  • Bunkers. Rake and spread sand properly.  Do not leave footprints, or swing path marks unmanicured. Place rake completely inside the bunker near the edge.
  • Please turn your cell phone off as a courtesy to others. If this is not possible, do not let your cell phone disturb other players by ringing or holding up play.
  • Responsibilities for proper decorum are yours. Please limit loud of vulgar language. Put all cans, bottles, cigarette butts, candy wrappers etc. in provided receptacles. Help keep your club clean.
PACE OF PLAY

Many feel that the biggest factor in having a pleasant round (beyond shooting under par) is to have a reasonable, monitored and enforced pace of play. A round of golf at Eagle Brook CC should be played in four hours or less. It is not fair to infringe on another members’ pleasure by taking too much time to play a round of golf. No matter the golfer’s level, pace of play is to be honored. If appropriate, allow a faster group to play through, regardless of the group size. Do NOT wave up other groups on the par threes, unless allowing then to play through. Move quickly from the green to the next tee, writing scores while your partners are hitting their tee shots.

During inclement weather or on cart restricted days, take more than one club with you so you don’t have to walk all the way back to the cart to retrieve another club.  Play ‘ready’ golf if perhaps you have fallen off the pace due to tough hole or a lost ball. If you have lost touch with the group in front of you, you are most likely out of position. KEEP PACE!!

Acknowledgement of the above listed measures and practices and of their importance are paramount to the continued growth and prosperity of Eagle Brook CC. If we all strive to be aware of the value of treating each other and the golf course with reverence and respect, each and every member and guest will have a heightened sense of enjoyment and community here at this great facility.
